If you’ve been playing World of Warcraft recently, some recent theories have emerged to help explain or piece together the story’s trajectory. Four expansions ago, we encountered ancient gods who whispered fragmented truths within the game. As time passed, the more you remembered those half truths, the more you could comprehend them.
With the recent (re)release of Snow White, I can’t help but think of what N’Zoth may have whispered about this. (The above is my creative take on what he might have said if we look at what Snow White is for Disney.)
Released in 1937, this timeless classic propelled Disney to its current status. In recent years, Disney has strategically employed live-action remakes to maintain relevance and profitability. While Snow White, a classic that deserves recognition for its contributions to Disney’s legacy, seems to be the latest target of this strategy, it risks undermining the very essence of Disney’s remarkable achievements over the past nearly 100 years.
